Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about CryptoGamma, GEX, and how our data is sourced.

What is Gamma Exposure (GEX)?

Gamma Exposure (GEX) is the open-interest-weighted total gamma across every listed option. It quantifies how much the aggregate delta of the market will change for each $1 move in the underlying, which drives dealer hedging flows and short-term volatility.

How do I read positive and negative GEX?

Positive Net GEX means dealers are long gamma and dampen volatility by buying dips and selling rips. Negative Net GEX means dealers are short gamma and amplify moves as they hedge.

Where does CryptoGamma source its data?

All metrics are computed from the public Deribit API (orderbook, open interest, mark IV, and index price) for BTC and ETH options.

How often is the dashboard updated?

Dashboard data is revalidated on a 15-minute cadence through Next.js caching. Manual refresh is available, and the public JSON snapshot at /api/public/snapshot mirrors the latest cached values.

Do you provide a machine-readable feed?

Yes. A structured JSON snapshot of the latest dashboard metrics is available at https://cryptogamma.io/api/public/snapshot (accepts ?asset=BTC or ?asset=ETH).
